Farmhouse in Green Pastures
|
As seen from Odd Road west of Ghent, the farmhouse stradles the divide between the county's highlands and lowlands.

My grandparents (Ira and Tennie Greene) lived in this house and I spent many days here as a young child.
The tree in the front yard, grandpa said was my tree. My brother fell out of the bean tree on the side of the house. I use to go with Grandpa out to the barn while he milked the cows. I would play in the sand on the path. I have wonderful memories of this wonderful place! Thanks for restoring it.

I'm Carolyn's brother -- the one that fell out of the tree (see photo #5) that is next to the right side of the house. I agree with my sister. Many fond memories are here. I have seen the house since it has been restored. It looks great. Indoor plumbing, gas cook stove and several other improvements enhance the farmhouse. I remember an apple orchard up on the hill to the right of the house. My grandmother would gather apples and fry them with butter, sugar and cinnamon and serve them for breakfast with her made from scratch biscuits -- great memories.
