Went to Brownie meetings and Halloween parties in this building as a young girl. Lots of good times remembered. Makes me miss the mountains.

I can't believe they finally got some pictures from Sophia, WV on the internet... The old log cabin sure looks picturesque.. My mom used to be a brownie leader there. Now I live in California and it makes me a little homesick for the mountains.. Gary M. Reed

I'm part of a group of present and past citizens of Sophia(most former Scouts in Sophia). In the fall of 2007 we took down the cabin log by log under the direction of Jim Lowry who taught many of us at Sophia High school and helped to build the cabin when he was a young boy. On June 27, 2008, we started to reassemble the cabin on the old Sophia Elementry School property. Once assembled the cabin will be used as a museum and community meeting place. The grounds around it will become a community park. We are accepting tax-deductible donations to save this cabin. Relocating it has been and will be expensive until the project is complete. Our next work weekend will be July 25-26 at 8:30 a.m. Please email me if you want more information. Please put Scout Cabin in the subject to avoid having your email go to our 'junk' file.
